PicScout Introduces Tool for Bloggers
When PicScout came to TBC, the Israeli company had little, if any, visibility in the United States. The company had created PicApp, an online service that would give bloggers and other online publishers free access to millions of copyrighted images from leading photo agencies such as Getty Images, Corbis and Splash News.
Objectives:
o Generate awareness among bloggers
o Drive sign-ups for the service, so PicScout could sell advertising, imbedded on the image for a few seconds on the blogger sites
Strategies:
o Arrange a first break for the launch announcement
o Follow-up with coverage on the key sites for bloggers
Results:
o Original coverage from more than 25 top sites in the fist three months, including c/Net, Webware, GigaOm, Mashable, AppScout and Yahoo! Tech, culminating with Picapp.com being named to PC Magazine’s list of the Top 100 Websites.
o Feature pieces at top industry outlets, such as GigaOM, Tech Crunch and Mashable.
o Coverage on BusinessWeek’s “Blogspotting” blog
o Press releases and creative postings in select blogger categories, such as celebrity, fashion, health and beauty, photography and productivity/home-based business.
o We also drafted an article bylined by the CEO offering tips on complying with copyright laws when publishing content online that we ultimately placed with GigaOm’s “Web Worker Daily” column.
