The Bohle Company Launched Epson America

The Bohle Company launched Epson America. Seiko was making its foray into computers with the printing device the world famous watch manufacturer had developed a few years before as a timing device for the 1964 Olympics. Management didn’t want to use the SEIKO name, in case they failed. “Epson” literally stood for “son of electronic printer.”

The Bohle Company handled all corporate and product PR for Epson from start-up for five years. In that time, we not only managed media relations for all product launches, handling media tours and a 10 day reporter trip to Japan, we pitched and secured major spreads in Forbes and Fortune magazine, the Wall Street Journal and two features in Business Week.

When Epson reached revenues of $750 million, the company brought PR in house.
