Deal News, an online “deal” site that searches the web and works with retail partners to identify the hottest deals on electronics and other products, wanted The Bohle Company to not only drive the online male and family shopper to the dealnews site during the September – December holiday shopping season, but to get shoppers to check back daily, even hourly, to the site, as the holidays approached.
Strategies:
• Identify which sites and blogs targeting our demographic would deliver the highest traffic
• Encourage reporters to put a link back to dealnews.com in any stories they wrote
• Offer a knowledgeable spokesperson to give reporters tips on smart shopping
• Prepare and break Black Friday predictions weeks ahead of other Black Friday stories
Results
• We hit every high traffic online target (including top 25 blogs for the online male demographic and personal finance).
o Print and online circulation was more than 45 million.
o We contributed to 58% of Monthly Traffic Growth.
• Results in the six months of our contract included:
o Six placements with different AOL columnists
o Four AP stories
o Four articles syndicated to dozens of newspapers
o Regular coverage on Gizmodo, MSNBC, PC World, Wired.com and Deal Crunch
