Communications Audit: Valuable Tool for Planning

Platinum Equity, a global M&A&O firm founded in 1995 by Detroit native by Tom Gores and headquartered in Los Angeles, focuses on identifying established but non-performing companies, often underperforming divisions of Fortune 1000 companies in the U.S. and Europe and then acquiring them through leveraged buyouts. Rather than selling off the assets, the company often operates the companies, generating turnarounds.
When the company approached The Bohle Company, the firm had assembled a diversified portfolio, but was largely unknown except to the public and private pension funds, insurance companies, endowments and family funds that had invested in the firm’s funds, even within its own industry.
The Bohle company conducted an audit of press coverage received by Platinum Equity and its closest competitors and studied the media and visibility strategies of those leading private equity firms, ultimately recommending strategies that would allow the firm to become better known.
Since then, a number of top business publications have recognized Platinum as one of the most important private companies in America, and included Platinum and Gores in various rankings such as Forbes’ lists of America’s Largest Private Companies and The World’s Richest People Los Angeles Business Journal’s List of LA’s Largest Private Companies.
